music: Jethro Tull - Black Satin Dancer

Well, when I sat down to originally write this, I had things to say. They weren't particularly important things to say, but it doesn't matter much now because they're all gone now. With that out of the way, I can move on and say that I've developed an intense love for LPs, particularly of the non-warped kind. My friends and I are going to split the price of a phonograph 3 ways, and there will be Record Love.

Isn't it strange how a song that you don't much like grows on you until you really do like it? I originally picked up Love by Foetus because J.G. Thirwell is a scoring GOD when it comes to Venture Brothers, and I assumed his other music would be as good. Turns out no, but some of the songs - Thrush, Miracle, Time Marches On, and in particular (not adam) - are really growing on me. The same thing is happening with Derby, which is a local band that has the talent to go commercial should they ever want to (and it certainly looks like they're headed in that way).

I feel supremely untalented right now, but I can always hope that stops soon, I guess.

I had a wonderful dream last night. It's the kind of dream you don't want to wake up from. asaunta was in it (and indeed, probably has a better understanding than anyone of precisely the kind of dream I mean). And then, just as the dream was getting EXTRA AWESOME, I woke up. As a result I feel like a tangled little knot of frusteration right now. Speaking of Kristin, there's a lot of missing going on right now. I figured I'd be too busy to actually miss her, but every so often (especially right as I'm going to sleep) there'll just be this sort of punch-in-the-gut feeling and I realize how much I miss her and that I won't actually get to enjoy actual face-to-face contact with her until december 20-ish.

Maybe I'll start a count-down.

Eh, I'm listening to Derby right now, and they're not bad, although I dunno if it's my thing. *shrug*

So what's so great about LPs?

And the tagline for one of their albums on CDBaby is... weird.

"If Elliott Smith made-out with the Shins while Brendan Benson was watching, together they'd have a little Brit-Pop-Baby named derby."

....what?

Well, it's very much an indie pop band, so if you don't like the shins etc, i can see why it's not your cup of tea.

I got a CD of theirs for free, too, so.

Never listened to the Shins, I dunno.

I definately wouldn't get pissed if I was caught in a room with this CD, if nothing else.

LPs are superior because of... sound quality, cheapness (most of the LPs I want are available for under 9 bucks), and old-school-awesomeness.

Also, you can get some awesome stuff on records that isn't nearly as awesome on cd.
